Professional Highlights
I received a Ph.D. and M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from BYU, and B.S. in Psychology from BYU-Hawaii. I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Utah and have been practicing therapy since 2016. I offer services both in-person and through telehealth.
Specialties
I work with individuals, couples, and families. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma stemming from adverse family of origin experiences and sexual assault, working with premarital and newlywed couples, and multicultural and diversity issues such as challenges related to discrimination, systemic oppression, and internalized racism. I also have experience helping clients with life transitions, faith crises, identity development, couple conflict and sexual challenges, and have assisted individuals who are members of the LGBTQ+ community.
In therapy, I take a compassionate non-judgmental approach and seek to understand clients’ unique experiences and concerns. I believe that a strong and safe therapeutic relationship is essential to successful therapy, and I work collaboratively with my clients to identify practical strategies to address their problems, and resolutions that promote healing, growth, and change. As an MFT, my clinical work is primarily informed by systems theory; meaning I conceptualize client challenges within the various contexts of their lives to identify the patterns and conditions that keep their problems in place and intervene accordingly. My approach is an integrative one that draws upon models such as Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, and attachment theory. I also take a holistic approach to treatment that considers clients’ physical, social, and psychological well-being.
In addition to therapy, I also have an interest in and have published research on attachment behaviors between couples, couple communication, and factors relevant to the mental health of Pacific Islanders.
I am committed to helping each person I work with reach their treatment goals and experience changes in their lives that allow them to achieve the healing, happiness, health, and connection to others they desire.
Cameron is not currently taking new clients. He sees people in-person in Orem and anyone in Utah by teletherapy.
