Sarah Keegan, MS, AMFT (she/her) Orem

Professional Highlights

I graduated from Kansas State University with a M.S in Couple and Family Therapy, a B.S in Human Development and Family Science, and a minor in Conflict Analysis and Trauma Studies. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist working under the supervision of Marty Erickson, PhD, LMFT. I expect to receive full licensure in Utah by 2026. I am a member of the LGBTQ-Affirmative Therapy Guild.

Specialties

I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families (including parents with teens and/or adult children). I am developing specialties in: women’s issues, recovering from abusive relationships, communication issues, perfectionism, low self-worth, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, self-harm, life transitions, and identity development.

Are you struggling with a critical voice that says you are “too much” or “not enough” for those around you? Are you tired of people pleasing or defensiveness taking the lead in your relationships? As a recovering perfectionist with late-diagnosed ADHD, I am familiar with the work of building self-compassion and a growth mindset. It is my hope that my therapy office can be a space where you show up as you are and take a break from questioning your worth. I strive to create an inclusive space by modeling and encouraging curiosity, compassion, and authenticity. As a LGBTQ+ affirming therapist, I am guided by trauma- and social justice-informed principles in my work.

I help people find themselves again. You aren’t alone if you feel like you’ve lost yourself to traumatic events, social expectations, and the stressors of everyday life. Our work will include deconstructing past narratives and identifying the values, guidelines, and hopes you are writing into your next chapter. Each session is an invitation to practice vulnerability and be an active participant in rebuilding lines of communication with those you love. I will follow your lead as we take the time we need to build our relationship. I look forward to being a witness to your growth!

In my approach I pull from Narrative Therapy, Virginia Satir’s Experiential Model, Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy, Gottman psychoeducation, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Sarah has current openings for in person in Orem, and teletherapy with anyone in Utah.
